TORONTO/AM640 TORONTO NEWS - A miserable start to the New Year for the Marlies.
Syracuse Crunch dominated the game from the start, scoring three of their eight goals during power plays, downing the Marlies 8-1 at the Ricoh Colliseum.
Through sheer frustration, the Marlies spent much of the third period in the penalty box.
Jeffrey Szwez, Olivier Labelle and Joakim Lindstrom each scored twice while Filip Novak and Ryan Caldwell added goals for the Crunch, who beat the Marlies for the second time in less than a week.
Erik Westrum replied for Toronto , which has lost four of its last five games.
