EDMONTON/630 CHED - Aboriginal leaders are demanding an independent inquiry into allegations that Edmonton police held a group of homeless people in an overheated van for hours.
Police Chief Mike Boyd has launched an internal investigation, but aboriginal leaders say an internal investigation isn't good enough.
The leaders are linking the incident to a long history of allegations of police misconduct involving aboriginals.
Nine homeless people were picked up by police in a van in May 2005
