EDMONTON/630 CHED - A new city policy ready to hit the books in the coming days will prevent tax payers money from being used for political contributions.
Those types of contributions usually were in the form of purchasing tickets to a fund raising dinner.
Councillor Mike Nickel led an unsuccessful attempt to bring in the ban in March of 2005.
He tells 630 ched news he's happy with this change in direction.
The big driver for the change was when Prime Minister Harper brought in the Federal Accountability Act.
