EDMONTON/630CHED - The part of St. Albert Trail from 137th Avenue north to the City of Edmonton limits is going to be named "Mark Messier Trail."

There have been rumours of a stretch of roadway being named for the former Oiler since he retired from the NHL.

Mayor Mandel says it's a fitting tribute to a man who has done so much for the game of hockey and the City of Edmonton.

Messier says it's hard to describe exactly how he feels about the thought of seeing Mark Messier Trail on a road sign.
