EDMONTON/630 CHED - The difficulties Edmonton has had with its regional partners was talked about on a national stage Tuesday.
The Senate Committee on National Security and Defense is in town, and regional co-operation was talked about.
It's an example of what the mayor has been talking about with the other mayors and reeves. If there was a big disaster, that required several municipalities working together, we likely wouldn't be as cohesive as we could be.
Bob Black Edmonton's director of emergency preparedness has been asking the feds for more money to build a new "nerve centre," because the one downtown isn't big enough to handle a region-wide problem.
Mayor Mandel says if something happened, there's nothing obligating any one to help out, but the reality is, every one would pitch in.
