EDMONTON/630 CHED - A foster mother charged in the death of a three-year-old told police the boy's fatal head injuries were the result of him throwing himself onto a bathroom floor.

The woman, who is a registered nurse, says she yelled to the live-in nanny for help, called 911 and tried to stimulate his breathing by clapping and calling his name.

The boy died in hospital of severe head injuries and the foster mother has been charged with second-degree murder.
